I would be thrilled to create a work of art
that will memorialize and honor your cherished pet.

Hi. My name is Teresa Kennedy Sprague. I grew up in the beautiful State of Maine and have recently moved from one coast to the other.
The year before I was married, my mother and I took an art class together.  My mother painted in oils and I learned the art of pen & ink.  I was not privileged to have art as a class in school, so didn't know much about what I was doing at the time, but really loved being able to create something beautiful  - just one tiny mark at a time.  A few years later, I decided to finish up a college degree at the University of Maine, but instead of Music Education (I only finished 2 years before getting married), I decided on a degree in Art Education. I graduated in 1989 with a B.S. in Art Education and taught for 5 1/2 years at the  elementary school level. I now enjoy giving private piano lessons and working on my pet portraits on the side.
For one of my art classes in college, I needed to purchase a large box of Prismacolor colored pencils, but only used them for one semester.  One day I decided to get that box out and try my hand at drawing our Brittany, Sherman.  Well, the rest is history.  I was hooked!!  I began asking all my friends for photographs of their pets in order to practice my art.  I gave away a lot of drawings!  I think it was around the year 2000 that "Posing Pets" was launched and I began a business in selling pet portraits. I have always loved animals and enjoy capturing their personalities in my art.  Most of my work is done on a commission basis, but you may visit my "Shop" page to see some of my work for sale, also.
I am so grateful to the many people who have allowed me to draw their beloved pet or the very special pet in the life of a friend or family member.
Thank you. What a privilege!

I live on the beautiful Island of Kodiak with my husband, Peter,
my cat, Mercedes, and my dog, Maggie.
